Our scope of work is designed to complement our clients’ capabilities. With an in-house single lift capacity of up to 60 tonnes, we are well positioned to handle large and heavy fabrications. We have also successfully delivered fully assembled structures exceeding this single-lift capacity through innovative handling and assembly methods.
We are particularly well-suited to projects that require:
Our proven track record includes fabrication of individual components weighing up to 115 tonnes, and structures up to 40 metres in length.
While we specialise in large-scale plate and box girder work, our capabilities extend across a broad range of fabrication projects. We welcome the opportunity to discuss your specific requirements and demonstrate how we can add value.
Allerton Steel is a trusted partner, supporting the successful delivery of increasingly complex and demanding projects.
Allerton Steel offers clients a one-stop-shop service to detail, fabricate and erect bridge structures including:
We are registered and approved by RISQS for fabrication of rail and foot bridges in the rail sector, NHSS Sector 20 and RQSC for highways bridges.
We have recently added to breath of market sectors by working on UK defence projects. While our capabilities as a precision fabrication and machining business deliver for this sector, it’s the added requirement for security that are different for defence projects.
This additional security requirement includes the following:
Due to the security requirements of our defence projects we cannot provide photos of the actual fabrications or projects. Therefore the photos used to represent this sector are generic defence photos and in no way reflect to type and scope of our defence projects.
Our girder capability ranges from basic carcass assemblies through to fully fitted-out structures, accommodating everything from simple fillet welds to full penetration butt welds.
Typical fabrication includes web and flange plate thicknesses up to 100 mm, with flexibility to meet specific project requirements.
Production efficiency is enhanced through the use of a hydraulic plate girder assembly jig, ensuring accuracy, repeatability, and reduced fabrication time. In addition, our CNC profiling equipment enables plates to be pre-shaped prior to assembly, minimising downstream processing.
Welding operations are carried out using our high-output column and boom welding systems, supporting both fillet welds and full penetration weld details with consistent quality and high deposition rates.
Our Crane building experience includes overhead, goliath, ship to shore, rubber tyred gantry, pedestal, and jib. These cranes have been supplied across various sectors including, ports, rail, offshore and nuclear projects. The construction can be of plate girders, box girder, tubular, lattice or any combination. Cranes with lifting capacities of up to 500t have been manufactured.
We have significant experience from working on many projects for the North Sea and overseas. We undertake both permanent works such as Deck Girders and Nodes, and temporary structural works such as Load-out Grillages, Transport Frames and Sea-fastenings.
As an offsite fabricator we can aid programmes and deliver a “kit of parts” to the assembly yard.
Additionally we fabricate mechanical structures, which have included LARS (Launch and Recovery Systems), J-Lay Tower – and much of its associated Deck Equipment, and an Offshore Wind Turbine Monopile Gripper.
We have significant experience of EEMUA and NORSOK specifications, and working with clients third party surveillance organisation such as DNV and Lloyds.
Allerton Steel has a long heritage of working within the nuclear supply-chain. We have the in-depth and mature Quality Assurance systems, including Sellafield approved weld procedures already in place, to work within the Nuclear sector. We are actively seeking more nuclear related projects and clients.
